    As a retired Flight Attendant, I am fully aware of the discomforts of long-haul flying. Aircraft have become larger so carry more passengers and now have the ability to make longer direct flights.

It is not always possible to walk around the airplane as is often suggested by the experts. Also, there is the added danger of 'clear air turbulence' which can occur at any time during the flight and can cause unnecessary injuries. 
I have been witness to these!

Deep Vein Thrombosis is an abnormal process of clotting in the deep veins of the body. The condition is serious, potentially fatal and very difficult to diagnose by external examination. Many on -going studies are being done on this problem but it does appear that inactivity is a contributing factor.
